Known
as the "House of Decision", because it was here that
General Washington and his staff planned the historic successful
surprise attack on Hessian troops at Trenton, NJ, Christmas night
1776. The center part of the house was built in 1702; the western
addition was put on by Robert Thompson in 1757 as well as the
2nd floor over the original one room structure. The last expansion
was to add the eastern section in 1788. |

Newtown

History
of the theater dates back to 1831 and considered the oldest movie
theater in the United States. It was originally built to be a
"non-sectarian church", but became a center of entertainment
by 1850 and regularly held dances, concerts and lectures. In 1853
it was known as Newtown Hall and also known as the "free
church." In the 1880's the theater was rebuilt and enlarged;
in 1887 the balcony was installed.. In the 1920's movies were
shown and in 1936 the interior was redone to improve the movie
watching experience. To this day the theater shows first run movies.

The
70 plus acre property located in Holland, Bucks County, PA, upon
which the Baker Farm was built, was sold by widow Hannah Fenton
to James Cornell in 1844. It is thought that Cornell built the
original stone house around 1850. The property changed hands several
times over the years with the Baker brothers acquiring it in the
1920's and farmed it until the 1960's. The original house and
remaining property AKA the History Hope Farm is now part of the
Northampton Preserve housing development. |
