Buckman Lovtt House (Open Edition Print)

The Buckman House was thought to have been built circa 1860 by the Buckman, family, who were among Newtown’s earliest residents. The barn located behind the Buckman house was constructed in 1705 and rebuilt in 1901 after a fire. The George Lovett and William Lovett families of Newtown also resided on the property for many years. The house is currently used as a restaurant as is the barn. In the not too distant past, the Lovett Barn was known as the “Potato Farm”.

Located at 3207 Street Road, Bensalem, Bucks County, right at the entrance to the Keystone Race Track. The building was constructed in 2003 and houses an abundance of Bucks County tourist information.

Canal Walk (Open Edition Print)

The Delaware Canal, completed in 1862, runs for 60 miles from Easton PA to Bristol, Bucks County, PA. At the northern end, Easton, it connects with the Lehigh Canal. The primary cargo carried by the mule driven, wooden barges on the canals was coal. Also carried was lumber and other building materials plus produce. The old wooden barges were replaced by the railroad around 1930. The scene shown in the painting of the canal is about 1 mile north of Washington Crossing, Bucks County, PA and was done in 2006.

Churchville Station (Open Edition Print)

The Churchville Railroad Station was constructed around 1897 and is identical to the Southampton Railroad Station. For many years the station was used as a post office, even after the trains stopped running. Members of the Northampton Historical Society have been taking care of the old station for years and continue to look for funding in order to preserve this irreplaceable Bucks County treasure.

Cutalossa Farm (Open Edition Print)

This painting is of a replica of one of what was a handful of mills that were sprinkled about the Cuttalossa Creek from the mid 1700s to mid-late 1800,s. The property in this painting is known as the Cuttalossa Farm and the original mill on this tract was in use until 1929. Renowned artist, Daniel Garber, resided here from 1907 until his death in 1954.

Dickey Farm Summer (Open Edition Print)

The Dickey Farm was located in Northampton, Bucks County in an area that would one day become Tyler State Park. The farmhouse was thought to have been built in the early 1800s. The earliest known owner of the farm was John Blaker, who willed it to his heirs in 1868. The Blaker family owned about 1000 acres in the area. The farm was resold several times and eventually purchased by David Dickey in 1914. Five years later Dickey sold it to George Tyler and it became part of the Tyler estate and consequently part of Tyler State Park when the park opened in 1974.

Eight Arch Bridge (Open Edition Print)

The historic Eight Arch Bridge was constructed in 1830 and spans the Neshaminy Creek north of Hartsville, Bucks County. It is the only remaining eight arch bridge in PA and the roadway that crosses the bridge is Old York Road, a two laner that is no longer in use.

After serving Newtown and its environs since 1955, Goodnoe’s Restaurant closed on Labor Day 2006. The popular restaurant and ice cream shop will be greatly missed by the many hundreds of customers that considered Goodnoe’s a favorite place to meet and eat, whether it was breakfast, lunch, dinner or time for ice cream.

Haupt Farm (Open Edition Print)

The property upon which the Haupt Farmhouse was built was originally owned by John Browne in 1688. Over the years the farmhouse, barn and numerous outbuildings were constructed. The property changed hands many times until it was sold to Joseph Haupt in 1903. Haupt sold it to George Tyler in 1919. Tyler donated it to the state and it became part of Tyler State Park in 1974.

Mail Pouch Barn (Open Edition Print)

Mail Pouch chewing tobacco was produce by the Bloch Brothers Tobacco Company of Wheeling West Virginia. In 1890 the company started an outdoor advertising campaign. Farmers who allowed their barns to used as billboards were compensated in various ways-some received cash, some received periodic repainting and others accepted free supplies of Mail Pouch tobacco. The painting of slogans and such on barns ceased in the 1960s due to the newly introduced Highway Beautification Act.

Mood's Covered Bridge (Open Edition Print)

This covered bridge in East Rockhill Township, Bucks County, was constructed in 1874 and spans the east branch of the Perkiomen Creek. In June 2004, arsonists set fire to the bridge and destroyed it. The rebuilding effort is thought to be completed by summer 2008.
