This work was painted from a photo taken just to the side of the main pavilion on the Sea Isle City boardwalk. By accident the flash illuminated the grass in the foreground which seemed to me like it was asking to be painted. |

Thompson-Neeley Grist Mill (Open

The original mill on the Thompson-Neely property was located a short way downstream on the Pidcock Creek and was thought to have been built by John Simpson in 1740. After Simpson’s death his widow married Robert Thompson, who was a successful miller. Thompson and his heirs ran the mill and farmed the surrounding acreage for many years while continuing their milling operation into the 1900s. The Thompson-Neely House, across the road from the mill, is considered one of the most historic houses in Bucks County. |
